Suren Vakil 

Suren has been in engineering consultancy since 1984.  He has 13 years experience in the UK and the remaining in India.  He is a UK Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management.  He has led major infrastructure projects including a large number of port and marine projects.

The team at BMT Consultants India is geared to providing the highest level of service at all times."My role is to ensure that the client gets what he needs and that the team deliver."   

 

Sajith Sreedharan  

Sajith has been with BMT Consultants India since inception in August 2006 and works out of the Mumbai office. He is a Director on the Board of the company. As a Director of the company he ensures that the company delivers "Value for Money" on all the assignments that it undertakes. BMT India has on board in addition to its competent employees, a team of experts in the field of Ports and Logistics who have been assisting with innovative and cost effective ideas. This has helped BMT to be differentiated from others in this field. His role also has been to coordinate them. As a project manager Sajith has led some major port development projects such as Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal, Chennai Container Terminal, Kulpi Port and SEZ and so on. Please feel free to call Sajith in case you come up with difficult and challenging situations in the maritime field in your organization.

 

Rajat Roy Chaudhury

Rajat Roy Chaudhury has 24 years experience in consultancy and research in the areas of coastal, environmental and water resources engineering. He has actively participated in over 100 projects related to environmental impact and risk assessments, coastal sedimentation, urban and watershed runoff, water quality modeling and intake / outfall studies. He has worked both as a project manager / coordinator and technically in a variety of roles - as a designer, mathematical modeler, field surveyor, and analytical chemist.

He worked and studied at the University of Rhode Island, USA for 7 years, participating in several projects related to monitoring and modeling for riverine / estuarine water quality, nonpoint source pollution and stormwater, including an urban stormwater modeling effort for the City of Providence's (Rhode Island, USA) combined sewer overflows.
He worked at the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai India for 15 years and was responsible for establishing the environmental engineering activities, before managing the Coastal and Environmental Group. His responsibilities included executing consultancy projects related to coastal infrastructure development. Some of the consultancy projects include the River Regulatory Measures in the Hugli estuary for Kolkata Port Trust, the layout for the expansion of the Gujarat Pipavav Port, thermal plant intake / outfall diffusers.

 

Jay Jaipal

Jay is a port planning and design consultant and a mentor. He brings a wealth of over 40 years international experience to BMT Consultants India, having lived and practised in several countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.  He has been a port engineer with a port authority and held senior positions with major firms of UK consultants.  In particular, he has been involved internationally on planning and design of container terminals, bulk and multipurpose ports, fishing harbours and marinas.  Jay also has many years of railway engineering experience which gives him a unique insight into how ports and ICDs and railways connect together.  He has latterly been involved in several ports and logistics projects in India. 

 

 

  

Capt. Kapil Dev Bahl

Captain Kapil Dev Bahl has experience as a marine surveyor, specializing in ship inspections, loss assessment and warranty surveys for the P&I, hull machinery, oil majors and the shipping industry. Captain Bahl has been empanelled as an ‘Expert Adviser' to the ‘Union Public Service Commission' Nautical Section, Govt. of India. He has successfully carried out macro level studies of inter-tidal zones, route survey, mapping, navigational aspects including buoyage. He has been responsible for pilotage operations, port operations, stevedoring, C&F, project cargo and pipeline transportation as well.

 

Darpan Jethi 

Darpan is responsible for managing the port planning and conceptual engineering stage for port projects. He works with clients often to help clients crystallise their needs and prepare a scope for the front end planning and engineering which is critical for the success of any project. Services are then tailored to suit the clients needs. He is also an expert in procurement and contractual issues. 

 

Tarun Kaw

Tarun is responsible for the key area of port engineering. He has significant experience in the design of marine structures such as jetties, breakwaters, sea walls including India's largest LNG jetty. Tarun has worked on projects in India, the UK, Ireland, Seychelles and the Maldives.

Capt. Gaurav Rana

Drumil is responsible for the logistics and business consultancy. His work areas are traffic forecasting for ports, inland logistics hubs, ICD's. Drumil has worked at BMT's Hamburg office and received training on the European Freight Model and various other projects in Europe. Drumil works with other BMT offices to enable an international level of service. BMT's business consultancy is unique since unlike management consultancy firms, BMT's depth of marine experience is brought to bear in this specialized business.Gauravhas experience of more than 13 years mostly sailing on oil tankers of various sizes, he has also sailed on DP ships, bulk carriers and general cargo vessels.

 

Gaurav is responsible for the navigation simulation services offered by BMT Consultants India in close liaison with BMT subsidiary in UK.  He has been trained in the use of the simulator by BMT in Southampton. He has successfully completed a number of navigation simulation assignments.  He provides an additional dimension as a Master Mariner to our various assignments.  He has carried out research in improving bridge watch keeping standards at sea.
