BMT Led Team Wins Type 45 Destroyer Technical Support Contract

BMT Defence Services, in collaboration with Quintec Associates Ltd. (Quintec) and Devonport Royal Dockyard Ltd. (DML) has been awarded the Type 45 Destroyer Specialist Technical Support Contract by the Ministry of Defence Type 45 Destroyer Integrated Project Team (IPT). Historically, the Type 45 Destroyer IPT has used separate companies to provide technical advice on different elements of the development programme. Tall he previous contracts have now been bought together under one contract, which has been won against strong competition by BMT Defence Services and its partners. BMT Defence Services has provided the Type 45 Destroyer IPT and its predecessors with technical and programme management support for the last ten years. The new contract will see this relationship continue for up to a further five years. BMT Defence Services will continue to provide programme, risk and safety management, naval architecture and marine engineering support. Quintec will provide requirements and combat systems engineering and integration, Human Factors Integration and Training Needs Analysis. DML will offer its considerable naval logistic support experience. The PCOBAe Systems, the Prime Contractor, holds the design and manufacture contract for the first three ships, which are due to enter service in 2007, armed with the Principal Anti-Air Missile System (PAAMS).
