Local Firm Wins Major Company Accolade

BMT Marine Procurement Ltd, the smallest of the 16 BMT subsidiaries, won the Jack Birks Cup, the annual BMT award for outstanding achievement in 2001. The highlight of the company’s year was winning the £12 million contract from UKAMS, one of the world’s leading missile system companies, to develop refurbish, modify and operate the Sea Trials Platform for the trials of the Principal Anti Aircraft Missile System (PAAMS).
John Walker, on receiving the Jack Birks Award on behalf of the company, said: “This is a great accolade for BMT Marine Procurement and thanks are due to everyone in the office. We have all been working tremendously hard since winning the UKAMS contract. It is a very exciting, high profile project and is tremendously challenging. However, moments like this, when all the hard work is recognised and rewarded, make it all seem worthwhile.”
